Discover Their Strengths, Target Their Needs
Why Reading Assessments Matter
Every struggling reader has a unique story. Some children need help breaking words apart, while others struggle to read smoothly or remember what they’ve read. Without a clear picture of which foundational skills are solid and which are missing, it’s nearly impossible to give them the right support.
That’s why we offer comprehensive, research-based Foundational Literacy Assessments. Grounded in the Science of Reading and the Orton-Gillingham approach, these assessments go beyond a grade-level test — they identify the exact breakdown that’s making reading hard for your child.

What We Assess:
Our assessment is designed to evaluate the full spectrum of foundational reading skills:

Phonemic Awareness –
Can your child hear, identify, and manipulate the individual sounds in words? (The foundation of all reading and spelling success.)

Decoding & Encoding –
How accurately and automatically can your child sound out unfamiliar words and spell words using phonics patterns?

Fluency –
How smoothly, accurately, and with what speed does your child read connected text?
Word Recognition-
Has your child built automatic recognition of high-frequency words?

What Makes This Assessment Different
Many tests simply give a grade-level equivalent or percentile rank. Our assessment digs deeper. Using Orton-Gillingham-informed, evidence-based tools, we:
-
Identify the specific phonics skills your child has mastered and which they are missing.
-
Pinpoint where reading breaks down — is it sound awareness, blending, fluency, or spelling?
-
Provide clear next steps, so there’s no guessing about what instruction your child needs.
This is not a “one-size-fits-all” evaluation. It’s a personalized diagnostic tool that creates a roadmap for your child’s reading success.
What Parents Receive
After the assessment, you’ll receive a detailed written report that includes:
-
Your child’s scores on each section of the assessment.
-
A clear analysis of their strengths and areas of need.
-
Their current reading level.
-
Tailored instructional recommendations grounded in the Science of Reading, so you’ll know exactly how to help your child move forward.
